The most important diagnostic testing performed for the majority of people with sleep problems is the polysomnogram (sleep study) administered at a sleep center. It is an all night test, recording multiple physiologic functions during sleep, and is interpreted by a sleep technician and sleep specialist.
In my office, I have available for your use, a home sleep monitor which I occasionally recommend to assess a potential sleep problem, but more frequently used to check the progress of a dental sleep device. After wearing the dental device for a few weeks, it is important to monitor the efficacy of the appliance therapy and adjust it accordingly. The monitor is quite simple to use with only three easy-to-apply non-invasive leads. This device provides an accurate analysis of breathing, oxygenation, snoring, and pulse.
